Description: 

This award recognises outstanding leadership and achievement in business performance by a young person.

Criteria:

The judges will be interested in examples of:

• Leadership excellence;
• The development, implementation and outcomes of strategies, and/or other key achievements to grow the business;
• The nominee’s contributions to the broader Australian chemistry industry, as well as any achievements outside of the business, will also be taken into account. 

The judges will also look favourably at applications which demonstrate the initiative, ethics and integrity displayed by the nominee.

The award is open to Chemistry Australia member employees at any level of the organisation up to 40 years of age. Letters of support and/or other evidence of the nominee’s contributions are welcomed.

Description:

This award recognises a Chemistry Australia member company that has demonstrated leadership or innovation which supports the drive to net zero. 

Criteria:

The judges will consider applications which:

• Demonstrate a significant reduction in facility, transport and/or other emissions;
• Deliver new products or technologies that lower emissions for their customers and value chain;
• Drive awareness and demonstrate a corporate culture focused on reducing emissions; and/or
• Align and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 

The judges will look favourably at applications that provide supporting evidence outlining the quantum or percentage reduction that has been, or is expected to be achieved.

Description:

This award recognises efforts by a Chemistry Australia member company to support Australia’s transition to a circular economy. 

Criteria:

The judges will consider applications which:

• Support supply chains to become more circular and conserve resources, including through design, production/remanufacturing, distribution, consumption/use/reuse, collection, recycling;
• Deliver essential infrastructure and technologies to support the transition at scale;
• Introduce new business models;
• Provide increased transparency for consumers;
• Promote and facilitate product stewardship; 
• Involve communities to build circular economies; and/or
• Align and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The judges will look favourably at applications which provide supporting evidence outlining the quantum or percentage waste reduction that has been, or is expected to be achieved.

Description:

This award recognises the demonstrated commitment by a Chemistry Australia member company to care for our people, community and environment. 

Criteria:

The judges will consider applications which:

• Demonstrate a substantial and consistent improvement of workplace health, safety, and/or environmental performance;
• Show efforts to continuously improve the knowledge and performance of our technologies, processes and products over their life cycles to avoid harm to the health and safety of people and the environment;
• Demonstrate efforts by the organisation to listen, engage and work with people to understand and address their concerns and expectations;
• Provide help and advice to foster the responsible management of chemicals by those who manage and use them along the value chain; and/or
• Demonstrate proactive efforts to improve mental health outcomes for employees. 

The judges will look favourably at applications that provide supporting evidence outlining the improvement that has been, or is expected to be achieved.

Description:

This award recognises an employer or organisation that champions workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) excellence.

DEI refers to three organisational values that employers strive to embody to better meet the needs of employees from all walks of life.

Criteria:

The judges will consider applications which:

• Demonstrate the promotion of diversity and inclusion in the workplace across the following categories, which could include: 

           Organisational excellence

• Policies, values and how these principles are lived and supported including the use of social inclusion plans, initiatives for work and role flexibility and role re-design, employee health and wellness programs, and cultural training to create a fairer and more equitable workplace. 
• Manager training to foster better understanding of DEI and its importance. 

            Initiatives promoting inclusion

• The development of innovative strategies and transformative initiatives that support diversity, equity, and inclusion while also encouraging collaboration and creativity in the workplace.  

            Leadership pathway development

            for employees

• Efforts to develop leadership pathways for employees from diverse backgrounds.
• Initiatives that foster diversity at all levels of the organisation and strive for gender parity in pay.

The judges will look favourably at applications that provide supporting evidence of a change in culture, leadership composition, diversity in employment hires, specific programs and their outcomes.
